Manchester United are set to face a new fight to keep No 1 goal keeper David De Gea, with Zinedine Zidane considering a summer swoop for the Spaniard following his return to the Santiago Bernabau.
De Gea was subject to a Real Madrid switch in the past, but on several occasions failed to complete a move to the Spanish side, including a last-minute faxing dispute between both clubs.
However, contract talks between the red devils and David has stalled of recent, over the Spaniard’s proposed new salary earnings. And Zidane may yet attempt to lure the goal keeper to Madrid as he continues his summer rebuild.
Florentino Perez completed a summer move for Thibaut Courtois after the French man’s departure, but according to TheMirror, Zinedine Zidane’s return to Madrid could signal the end for the Belgian who seems rather unconvincing for the new manager.
Zidane reportedly received a £300 million war chest to aid his summer plans, and is believed to have set aside around £75million to entice 28-year-old De Gea – whose contract with United expires next summer, back to his hometown.
David De Gea is however open to finishing his career at Manchester United, but will only extend his contract if the club meet his massive salary ask.
