Zinedine Zidane targets Olympique Lyon star Nabil Fekir, as he looks to rebuild Real Madrid for next season’s challenge.
Real Madrid’s returning coach Zinedine Zidane is wasting no time in turning up the heat at Santiago Bernabau, as the Frenchman secured his first signing (Eder Militao) just days after his official announcement, and has now enlisted Nabil Fekir as a top target in his Real Madrid summer rebuild plans.
Fekir has just one more year on his contract with Olympique Lyon, and was close to joining Liverpool in the summer. However, the Merseyside reds attempted to renegotiate terms following medical examinations, which inevitably led to the collapse of the previously agreed deal.
Since the contract break down between Liverpool and Lyon, Fekir has won a World Cup trophy, and is currently leading Lyon as Captain in the season, contributing to 12 goals and 7 assists in 30 appearances so far.
Zinedine Zidane has no intention of leading the Madrid line with Gareth Bale, in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo. And will attempt to fill the void left by the Portuguese center forward by snatching up 25-year-old Nabil Fekir to help provide the missing creative link which saw Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari both meet the axe.
Fekir commands a hefty £63 million transfer fee as per Transfermarkt, with the French international likely to see Real Madrid end their interest in Christian Eriksen, who has also been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish side along side Eden Hazard and a few other big names, also expected to join up with the new galactico at Madrid next season.
