Bar the change of names and a few jersey redesigns, Real Madrid are yet to move on from a dreadful season they endured in the last campaign.

It’s only the pre season – many would say – but the true fact remains, that Real Madrid are very much still as futile and unconvincing, as they were under Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari.

A shambolic defence line, and a lack of goals have once more produced series of dreadful results, including a 7-3 loss to City rivals Atletico Madrid, and most recently a 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Truth about Real Madrid

The simple truth remains that Real Madrid are yet to recover from the loss of talisman Cristiano Ronaldo, and apparently Zinedine Zidane’s managerial return and the inclusion of Eden Hazard is yet to make any meaningful difference to the squad.

Florentino Perez sealed a return for the Frenchman, in hope that Real Madrid return to a blissful past, where the manager lifted three consecutive Champions League trophy, before announcing his departure, following dispute over transfer plans.

The Los Blancos were simply unprepared to deal with the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, and have themselves to blame for their latest struggle.

The latest recruitment Eden Hazard, is yet to merge with his new squad, and until then Madrid can only hope to survive the wave of the new season, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid looking far more stable and incisive through the Pre Season.

Zinedine Zidane tables his case

Real Madrid need time to recuperate, and whether or not Zizou is the right man to help them back on track, the Los Blancos are bound to struggle at some point in the season. With pundits bidding the manager to last only a couple of months before being relieved of his duties.

Zidane is however confident Real Madrid will have a good season, admitting his hurt over the series of bad results, but reveals he is ‘always positive’ and believes they are on the right track.

“We were better and what we have to do is improve every day,” Zidane told the press. “I’m not happy with the defeat, but we were better.”

“We’re here and the players are these ones,” He continued. “You don’t have to keep going on about this.

“Things can change-up until August 31. I’m confident in my players.

“It’s true that the matches have started badly, it’s true. But we’re not going to lose confidence because it’s a long season.

“The Real Madrid fans don’t have to be worried, I’m always positive. I know it’s hard because we’ve just had a difficult season and because we’ve had a difficult start.

“I know I have a great team. What we need to do is win a game. That’s all we need.”
