Real Madrid and Zidane failed to capitalize on Barça’s slip up to Levante, the Los Blancos themselves only able to muster a 0-0 draw at home to Real Betis.
“Our rhythm, intensity, and overall game were all perfect, we just have to put the ball in the net,” Zidane said after the game.
“We have missed the [elusive] goal, clearly.
“We had many chances from the first minute and only lacked the finish.”
Real Betis setup a good wall against the Los Blancos, although goalkeeper Joel Robles was in fine form, making a number of saves in either half.
Zidane admits the weekend visitors are a good team but says his side were superior in every way possible, reiterating they only lacked a goal.
“Betis are a good team, with very good individual players,” He said. “In the entire first half we were superior in every way, I repeat that we only lacked a goal.
“The second half was more even, but today hasn’t been too bad.”
The Frenchman would also see a few eyebrows raised in confusion, as the manager replaced striker Karim Benzema despite still needing a goal in the match.
In response, Zidane said: “It’s good that you’re asking me about that, I didn’t want to change the system,” he intimated.
“We were fine with three in the middle, so I only changed man-for-man to look for more freshness.
“I wanted more crosses from [Dani] Carvajal and [Ferland] Mendy, but it wasn’t to be.”
