Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane hasn’t given up on Kylian Mbappe but concedes the PSG star would arrive on Tuesday as a rival.
Kylian Mbappe has constantly been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu for some time now. With Zizou publicly admitting his admiration for the player.
“You know that I have known him for a long time,” Zidane told a media conference. “I am already in love with him, firstly as a person, because he came to do a trial here a long time ago.
“On Tuesday he comes as a rival. What matters to me is what we are going to do and we are going to prepare for it. We know the player and we must be prepared.”
Real Madrid fell by a massive number when they visited Le Parc des Princes in the first round, and that was without Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
Both players are expected to make Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI for the fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, why the manager concedes it’s going to be a tough match, he believes his team is well prepared for any eventuality.
“Nothing changes for me because I think Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are going to play,” Zizou explained. “We are prepared in any case to play against any team.
“PSG is a very good team. I think it will be a great game. Since the beginning of the season, they have not had many failures; they have lost very little in the league.
“I see a team that is progressing very well. They are one of the best teams in the world.
“They will demand a lot from us and we know that. In the end, we’re going to need a lot of things – our heads, our hearts and a lot of good football. We need to work well with the ball.”
Real Madrid trail the French champions by five points, but sit quite comfortable in second. With third-placed Club Brugge also trailing the Los Blancos by five, having just secured two points.
The Spanish Giants will qualify for the next round of the competition with a win against PSG on Tuesday. But most of all, the Los Blancos need a win, to stand a chance of finishing top of the group A table.
