Arsenal legend Ian Wright is the latest to question why Mesut Ozil is still frozen out of Unai Emery’s squad, as the pundit admits the Gunners won’t be moving forward under the manager.

Mesut Ozil remains Arsenal’s most creative talent. However, the midfielder has been restricted to just two appearances this season. With Ian Wright certain there is an ulterior motive behind Emery’s exclusion of the German.

The Arsenal boss has constantly deemed the 31-year-old unfit to feature in his squad. Despite having being influential in the midfielder’s decision to remain at the North London club.

Quizzed on The Kelly and Wrighty Show, Ian Wright admitted he was disappointed with the situation, revealing a change in the dugout could be the best solution to the current dilemma.

When asked who he would like to see stay longer at Arsenal, Ian Wright said: “Well, hopefully, Ozil.

“He’s already said he doesn’t want to leave. For me, hopefully, it’s Ozil.”

He added: “I’m very disappointed to see that [Ozil not in the squad] because I don’t think that Arsenal when you look at Arsenal’s creative stats, they’re not up there.

“They’re actually not creating as much and they’re conceding more shots on target. So that says to me you need somebody creative to be playing there.

“Mesut Ozil is that guy, I don’t know what’s going on with him and Unai Emery, but for me, I think this could be the problem for Unai in the end if Arsenal continue to do what they’re doing.

“They’re waiting for [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang or [Nicolas] Pepe, like the other day, to save them. The fact is he should be playing.”

Last time out, Arsenal required the services of Nicolas Pepe to overcome Europa League opponents Vitoria Guimaraes, whilst Mesut Ozil was left out of the matchday squad.

The North London club host Crystal Palace in a Premier League game on Sunday, and it remains to be seen if Unai Emery’s call would favor Mesut Ozil.
