Latest reports, have revealed the reason Man Utd backed out of the deal for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes in the summer window.

Bruno Fernandes, 24, was exclusively linked with a move to Old Trafford through the summer window. However, United eventually decided against the deal, with several reports then stating this was due to a disagreement with the club over the player’s transfer fees.

Fernandes was expected to lift the lid at the club, following the departure of Ander Herrera to Paris Saint Germain in the summer. As well as provide another source of creativity to ease the load on Frenchman Paul Pogba.

No deal materialized for the sporting Lisbon talisman, and according to recent reports. This is due to concerns over the player’s adaptability to the Premier League.

According to MailOnline via Metro, Manchester United had extensively scouted Bruno Fernandes, but came to the conclusion that he would not be a good fit for the system Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to play at Old Trafford.

The report also states that Man Utd scouts had concerns over his decision-making and his pass completion rate of 75.1 per cent was ‘not deemed high enough’.

Former club legend Rio Ferdinand however previously revealed, that failing to sign the Portuguese was probably United’s worst decision of the summer. One he believes they might regret later on.

Meanwhile, Manchester United made an attempt to sign Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff. However, the club massive £50 million valuation of the 21-year-old was just too much, and the red devils rightly walked away from the deal.
