Barcelona continue to retain pole position in the race for Antoine Griezmann, after the Frenchman revealed he will be leaving the Wanda Metropolitano this summer.
Barcelona are joined in the race by Paris Saint Germain, Manchester City and Manchester United, despite the previous two (football clubs) casting uncertainties over a possible deal for the forward this summer.
In a statement to the press, Ernesto Valverade confirmed there was an interest or at least an intent from Barcelona, but won’t say for sure, if Barça would be Griezmann’s final destination for next season.
“If Griezmann signs for Barcelona we will see” Valverade said.
“I don’t know at the moment, we are guessing about a player who can come or not
“I have been questioned about these kinds of rumours in other situations. Honestly, we will see what happens.”
However, according to reports, Barça hope Griezmann will take a step forward on his proposed move to the Camp Nou – as so many players have when they put sporting success above the economic (financial) question presented by other suitors.
