Juventus will try to sell striker Mario Mandzukic, and ‘disapointed’ midfielder Emre Can in the winter window. After the former, raged at the club, for both [players] being excluded from the Champions League squad.
For Mario Mandzukic, it’s wasn’t particularly a new scenario. As the player was well aware, he was unlikely to make the list. After Juventus already tried to offload the him in the summer.
Emre Can however, has not taken the news lightly. With the midfielder – who is currently on international duty with Germany – admitting, he was shocked by the news, and will definitely take actions to ensure the decision is revised, when he returns to club duties.
“It was very shocking for me because last week I was told and promised something else,” Can told the press on Wednesday. “Yesterday I got a call from the coach, in which he told me in less than a minute and without explanation that I was not in the squad. I can not explain it, nobody has given me a reason until now.
“Me and my agent had talks with other clubs, Paris Saint-Germain as well. After discussions with Juventus, we decided to stay with the club. A condition was to play in the Champions League, and that was what I was promised. Yesterday it was said – one day after the transfer period ended – that I’m not in. It just makes me angry how they’ve dealt with me.
“I’ll deal with the consequences when I get back and talk to the club. I want, and I have, to play in the Champions League.”
Maurizio Sarri is however not one to easily go back on his decision, and there is almost a certainty that the situation will excalate, and definitely cause a serious unrest between himself and the manager.
Juventus have a wealth of talent in the squad already, and will without doubt explore the option of a sale in the January, if the situation becomes unbearable.
For Emre Can, Champions League football is a must, and that would play a huge part on his decision about his next club if he eventually leaves. However according to Goal, Mario Mandzukic is in far less of a rush to secure his next move.
