Beaten by Ajax in the first leg of the Champions League, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly plotting a €40 million bid to beat AS Roma to playmaker Hakim Ziyech, having had a first hand experience of the player.
Mauricio Pochettino has waited so long for a chance to spend a bit in the transfer window, and has identified Ziyech as a possible target to help lift his deteriorating squad.
Hakim Ziyech, 26, has been massively instrumental to Ajax’s current treble run in the season, scoring 20 goals and providing 21 assists in 45 appearances for the Dutch side so far.
Ziyech is expected to be a replacement – and an exciting one – for Christian Eriksen who could leave the Spurs side for Real Madrid in the summer. Even so, the 26-year-old could feature as a right-winger, and would still be needed if Eriksen decides against joining the Los Blancos eventually.
Frenkie De Jong’s exit, as well as a potential deal for Mattihijs De Ligt is believed to be a major reason to why Ziyech would easily quit his current side(Ajax), in favour of a move elsewhere.
As previously stated, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to offer €40m for the Moroccan international, but would have to fend off Italian side AS Roma, who are also seriously interested in securing 26-year-old Hakim Ziyech in the summer transfer window.
