Pep Guardiola and Manchester City returned to the summit of the Premier League, thanks to goals from Bernando Silva and Sergio Aguero.
Silva struck as early as the 5th minute to give City the lead, before repaying the favor, as he found Sergio Aguero 22 minutes later to put the Citizens in full control at half time.
However, Aguero was withdrawn from the game, just three minutes from the hour mark and replaced by Gabriel Jesus, in what Guardiola has now revealed to be injury concerns while awaiting a professional statement after his assessment, which is scheduled for tomorrow or a day after.
“He says he felt something, but hopefully he’s not injured,” Guardiola said.
“He decided on not continuing. Hopefully it will not be a big issue.
“We’ll see tomorrow, maybe the day after tomorrow.”
Guardiola is seemingly happy to have passed another test, as City’s win saw them safely ahead of Liverpool on the Premier League table and leading by a single point on 77, with just seven matches left in the season.
“Seven games left for the Premier League, and it’s easy: we have to win every game to be champions,” He said.
“We have a tough, tough opponent. But that’s the challenge.
“It was a tricky game for us after the international break.
“But the way we started was amazing, the players surprised me again.
“And we showed how focused we are to try to do our best.
“After that the game was a bit more controlled. The game was under control, that is the truth.
“After the international break, people were tired, so I’m pretty sure in the next game our players will be a bit better. So we’re just focusing on Cardiff now.”
