The Camp Nou breathes fire tonight, as Barcelona welcome Liverpool for the first leg of the Champions League semi final tie.
Liverpool head into the fixture hoping to secure a second final, two years in a row. With Klopp revealing the only better feeling would be [being] called champions. Barcelona as well are in the tussle, looking to win a trophy they last held in 2015, before Real Madrid took total control of the European stages.
Lionel Messi had warned, that his side will be no push overs in the semi finals, and while Klopp accepts Messi is quite the gem, backing down isn’t an option. And Klopp has responded to the proposed threats from Lionel Messi – a statement he made before the season started.
“Out of the players I’ve seen, I’d say that Messi is No 1. I’ve coached a few good players,” Klopp said
“My father always said Pele but I was too young to watch him live.
“Messi said before the season started ‘we want to bring home this cup.
“That sounded like a threat to me. We want to go to the final as well.
He added: “It’s brilliant. The only thing that would be better would be if someone told me we were already champion.”
“We like that the boys created this situation. Two years ago it was a big thing for this club even to qualify for the CL, now we’re in the semis two years in a row.
“A draw would not be the worst result in the world.
“So many people have come to Barcelona with a proper plan but got a proper knock.”
