Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted after Champions league quarter-finals pummeling by Barcelona, that the red devils are way down the command chain, when compared to the Catalans.
The Camp Nou gracefully welcomed the red devils, and delivered a pungent reality check on how far the club are from the pole spot on the European stages.
Solskjaer has been charged with returning the glory to Old Trafford, and while the Norwegian has been far from exciting since signing for the club on a three-year deal, Ole has promised massive changes in the transfer window, as United hope to pull level with the likes of Barcelona.
“We know there’s work to be done.” Solskjaer said.
“I’ve said all along this isn’t going to change overnight and the next few years are going to be massive to get to the level of Barcelona.
“We’re on with the job and we’ve spoken to the players about it as well.
“We need to create an environment of top, world-class attitude every single day. We’ve got a lot of good players to work with but as I have said, we have a rebuilding job. It started with coaches, players and of course one or two additions in the summer.”
Manchester United have been linked with the likes of Jadon Sancho, Douglas Costa, Gareth Bale, Callum Hudson-Odoi and a thousand more names. However, there are no concrete deals in place, and the Man United faithful have their fingers crossed, as they hope to see a massive overhaul of a rather deteriorating squad.
According to Football365, ‘United correspondent Rob Dawson claims that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to strengthen every area of his team barring the goalkeeper, though that may be taken out of his hands if David De Gea decides not to sign a new contract.’
