Rihad Mahrez is bidding his time at Manchester City, but could set sails elsewhere due to lack of playing time.
Mahrez, 28, joined City for £61.02 million in the previous summer, and despite making 42 appearances (28 in the Premier League) so far in his début season at City, Mahrez has only started 38 percent of his Premier League games.
Pep Guardiola publicly apologized to the player, saying he was ‘sad’ for his lack of playing time, but pointed out that it was down to the deadly form of Raheem Sterling and Bernando Silva.
Mahrez has scored six goals and provided three Premier League assists since his switch from Leicester City, and while the winger believes his technical ability should yield more than just a few starts, it’s quite unlikely he will be getting his wish, with Raheem Sterling and Bernando Silva in red-hot form.
Manchester City Player stats
Compared to Raheem Sterling and Bernando Silva, Mahrez has been branded rather ineffective, with the 28-year-old having failed to put up a convincing display against top sides, and a better percentage of his goals coming from lower-league opposition.
The summer window is fast approaching, and according to several reports, the Algerian international will demand to leave the club, if there are no change of fortunes or assurances for next season.
