Real Madrid are reportedly set to drop their interest in Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen, as Zinedine Zidane is said to invest heavily in his attempt to sign Manchester United’s Paul Pogba instead.
Following six seasons with the White Lily’s, Eriksen admitted his intentions to “try something new”. With just a year left on his contract with the club.
However, it seems Real Madrid won’t be the destination anymore, as Zidane is seemingly not interested in the playmaker, although reports say Madrid president Florentino Perez fancied the player, having identified him as a possible signing prior to Zizou’s appointment.
Real Madrid step up chase for Paul Pogba
With a possible deal for Christian Eriksen now out the table, Real Madrid are set to invest heavily in their chase for Frenchman Paul Pogba this summer.
According to Metro, ‘Real are open to offering Pogba a six-year contract to help persuade him to move to the Bernabeu although he may have to take a wage cut from his reported current wages of around £290,000 per week at Old Trafford.’
Manchester United are reluctant to sell, with any deal for Pogba bound the see Real spend a massive €150m (£133m) at the very least, if they hope to meet the red devils valuation of the Frenchman.
Shock move for Son?
Eriksen may not be heading for the Santiago Bernabau, but seems Heung-min Son could. With reports by Italian news outlet Calcio Napoli 24 claiming that Real have now turned their attention to Eriksen’s team-mate Heung-min Son.
Apparently, Real value Pogba’s midfield role over Eriksen, but won’t mind adding Spurs winger Son to the squad list for next season. Following an outstanding campaign by the South Korean, in which he scored 20 goals and provided 10 assists in 48 matches in all competitions, as well as being named the club’s Player of the Year.
Son is however contracted to Spurs until 2023, with the 26-year-old valued at a certain €65 million as per Transfermarkt.
