Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of 24-year-old Lyon left back Ferland Mendy for the next six seasons.
It seems Zinedine Zidane has no plans of slowing down, as the Los Blancos confirmed the signing of Ferland Mendy for €48 million, just hours after Luka Jovic was unveiled to the club fans.
In a statement released on the club’s official website, it read:”Real Madrid C. F. and Olympique Lyonnais have agreed the transfer of Ferland Mendy.
“The player has signed a contract with the club for the next six seasons, running to the 30th of June 2025.
“Mendy will be presented on Wednesday the 19th of June at 1:00pm CEST in the VIP box at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“Mendy will then set foot on the Santiago Bernabéu pitch for the first time wearing a Real Madrid C.F. jersey and speak to the press.”
French manager Didier Deschamps had previously admitted in a statement, that the full back was next in line to join the Madrid whites.
“Two years ago he was playing in the second division, now he is on the verge of joining Real Madrid,” Deschamps said.
“He has come on leaps and bounds, and he can play on both sides.”
Mendy will now become Zinedine Zidane’s fifth signing since his return to the Bernabau, having already secured the services of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao and Rodrygo earlier on.
