Mesut Ozil could still end the summer without current club Arsenal. As reports claim his representatives are this week due to fly to Washington for talks with DC bosses.
Unai Emery has made amends with the German, but that doesn’t mean, Ozil would remain at the club, should a good deal come by for the midfielder.
The 30-year-old failed to impress under Emery last season, with both practically at war. As the manager constantly left out the midfielder from the matchday squad.
Should a deal fall through, Mesut Ozil will take a pay cut from his massive £350,000k a week salary. With the Gunners keen to get him off the payroll.
Ozil failed to feature in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Newcastle in the weekend, not for lack of fitness. But as a security precaution, after he and Sead Kolasinac were targeted in a carjacking attempt during the pre season.
DC United will part with former Premier League star Wayne Rooney, after he accepted a player-coach role at Derby County and is set to depart in January. The club have now reportedly identified Mesut Ozil as a possible replacement for Rooney.
However according to Express, ‘finances could become a major problem and Arsenal could have to fund part of the deal with salaries in the MLS nowhere near like they are in the Premier League.’
