Mauro Icardi continues to be strongly linked with a move to Spanish side Real Madrid, with the latest action by Inter Milan sparking speculations of a possible switch for the striker.
Icardi’s wife and agent Wanda Nara had previously revealed that the striker [Icardi] was not leaving the club, saying that neither she nor Mauro had request to leave.
“There’s a real possibility of him staying at Inter for a long time.” She said.
“An agreement soon? I’ve received positive signals, so I hope it can be an important week: my phone is on and for me he’ll renew 100 per cent, even if I haven’t talked to anyone yet.”
Those words would now mean nothing, with Inter having named goalkeeper Samir Handanovic as their new club captain, and stripping Mauro Icardi of the role at the club.
Despite Real Madrid failing in a winter pursuit for Icardi, the Los Blancos have not lost interest in the 25-year-old, and would pounce on any opportunity to sign the striker.
Having found the net 15 times in all competitions, Mauro Icardi has experienced a dip in form of recent, with Inter Milan manager Luciano Spaletti suggesting contract talks has had a major effect on Icardi’s form of late.
The former Barcelona academy player, is under contract with Inter Milan till 2021, with the 25-year-old valued at around €100m as per Transfermarkt.
