Mario Balotelli is unfazed by the idea of facing Portuguese and Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo. With the striker set to make his debut for Brescia.

The 29-year-old admits Cristiano Ronaldo is the best in the world, alongside Barcelona forward Lionel Messi. However, the striker says he doesn’t really care about facing him [Ronaldo], insisting he is only focused on scoring goals for his new club.

“Does it excite me to play against [Ronaldo]? I really don’t care,” Mario Balotelli told DAZN .

“He is a great champion, he is the best in the world with Messi. It is nice to play against him but I do not get excited.

“I will try to score goals, as in all the other matches I play.”

As the striker prepares for his fourth stint in Italy, and having missed out on the four games through a suspension earned at his former club Marseille.

Mario Balotelli feels he might need some time to get back to the groove, but doesn’t really care, saying he’s never been in better shape to play for a long time.

“I feel comfortable [in my preparation],” he said. “In the last month and a half, I have worked more than I did in the last 10 years of my career.

“I don’t care about who [I’m playing], I care only about playing and feeling good.

“It is normal that I won’t have the rhythm of the game just yet – because I’ve only played two friendlies so far and you can only find the rhythm by playing.

“But one thing is certain, in terms of my weight and shape, I’ve never been like this. The last time I weighed this amount I played for Manchester City and I was 20 years old.”

Mario Balotelli hasn’t had the best of career for a long time now. However, having returned to Italy, the striker is looking to pave his way back into the national team, as he sets sail for the Euros.

“My goal is [to be in the Euros],” Balotelli said. “But now I can’t think about it.

“My personal wish is for it to be a great tournament for me and the team.

“I just have to work to get back to my best form, at 200 per cent, as soon as possible.”
