Manchester City and Pep Guardiola made a huge statement, with the citizens leaving no stones unturned in Watford’s 8-0 thumping.

Guardiola arrived to the fixture, still hoarding a defeat they suffered last time to Norwich City. In which his Manchester City side were accused of an arrogant approach to the game.

City however reminded the entire Premier League world, just why they are feared. As the hosts left opponents Watford gasping for breath at the end of the 90 minutes fixture.

Apparently, Watford have struggled since the start of the season. But make no mistake, as Manchester City thumping was no icing on the cake. It was a simple show of strength, power and a statement that the Manchester blues are not backing down from the fight just yet.

Prior to the fixture, Pep Guardiola stood five points adrift the Merseyside reds and Jurgen Klopp. But the manager’s resurrection spell seems to have worked perfectly, and just like that, the wary days are behind them.

The Etihad was already reeking of goals, as early as the 18th minute. With David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Rihad Mahrez, Bernando Silva and Nicolas Otamendi all on the score sheet.

Bernando Silva added his second in the 49th minute, before rounding off his hat trick 11 minutes later. Kevin De Bryune also got in on the act, the provider netting five minutes from time to draw the curtains close.

Manchester City emphatically blew away Watford, and if this is not a good enough message to Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool side over the Premier League title? Then what is.

Pep Guardiola may have missed out on a second record by failing to net two more, despite creating enough chances to double the final score. However, the manager would be more than delighted to have his team kicking once more, and in an impeccable manner it seems.
