Man Utd refusing to bulge from €25m valuation of Roma target Chris Smalling

AS Roma must meet Man Utd’s €25m valuation of Chris Smalling if they hope to make the defender’s deal permanent this winter.

Smalling, 30, joined Roma on loan for €3m last summer. The center back has since then proved to be pivotal, and the Serie A side are now quite convinced he’d be a good addition to the squad permanently.

However, the Serie A side have hit a stumbling block with Man Utd, who have refused to reduce their asking price from their intended €25m valuation of the player.

Chris Smalling has started 79 percent of his 15 Serie A matches so far, scoring two goals and providing an assist, to convince the club of his quality.

According to reports, Roma are anxious to lock this up as soon as possible. But the La Lupa at the moment are only willing to offer a deal worth around €20 million for the target.

Chris Smalling still has six months on his contract with AS Roma, and so there is plenty of time for the Serie A side to discuss a permanent deal with Manchester United.

Besides, it’s unlikely Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be keen on his return, that is of course if he is still manager at the end of the season.
