Manchester United could secure Barcelona center back Samuel Umtiti in the summer, with reports the Catalan club are ready to part ways with the Frenchman.
Umtiti, 25, has missed several months of football through injury, and has featured just ten times in all competitions for Barcelona this season. With the Blaugrana’s now eyeing a move for Ajax youngster Matthijs de Ligt as a perfect replacement for the world cup winner.
The Spanish side are believed to be leading the race for the Ajax Captain, and are hoping new recruit Frenkie De Jong could help make the job easier in the summer.
Both Manchester United and City are believed to be considering a summer bid for the 25-year-old, who is valued at around £60 million by the club.
Since Umtiti’s £22.50 million move from Olympique Lyon to Barcelona in 2016, the French international has formed a formidable partnership with Gerard Pique at the Camp Nou. And if Barcelona do decide to sell, Umtiti would be ardent on a move to either Manchester City or Manchester United according to Calciomercato.
Manchester United have also been linked with the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Raphael Varane and De Ligt as possible alternatives to sign at the end of the season.
