Despite Paul Pogba’s desire to leave Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that the Frenchman is a candidate to take up the role as Captain for the new season.
Following Antonio Valencia exit from the club this summer, the red devils are searching for a new skipper. Ashley Young will wear the captain’s armband during United’s pre-season tour, but Ole has admitted Paul Pogba is a candidate, as the manager ponders on the decision.
“Yes,” Solskjaer replied when asked if Paul Pogba is being considered.
“I don’t think that needs explaining. We’ll discuss that later on.
“We’ve got quite a few possibilities there and when the season starts we’ll announce it.”
“Of course we’ll have a good assessment, see how pre-season goes.
“But, as you saw, Ashley will wear it when he’s playing until we decide on someone.”
Manchester United got off to a good start in the pre season campaign, beating Perth Glory 2-0 on Saturday. The red devils, will play Leeds United in their next match on Wednesday.
