Liverpool to offload Naby Keita in summer window - transfer, Naby Keita, liverpool

Liverpool are set to cut loose Premier League flop Naby Keita, one year after the 24-year-old arrived at the club, with a proposed return to the Bundesliga.

Jurgen Klopp has been keen on securing a versatile midfielder, and eventually sealed a £54 million summer move for Naby Keita last summer. However, Keita has failed to live up to expectations, with the Guinea international failing to find the net in 27 appearances so far this season.

According to TheSun, ‘Liverpool are prepared to take a £10m hit on Keita’, with German sides Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund reportedly in talks with the player’s representatives about a return to the Bundesliga.

Keita is down the pecking the order of midfielders at club, following Jurgen Klopp’s preference of James Milner, Fabinho and Giorginio Wijnaldum who are all now occupying bossy figures as compared to the 24-year-old.

Since his switch to the Merseyside reds, the midfielder has only added a single assist to his previously impressive résumé which saw him score 41 goals and provide 35 assists in his previous 175 fixtures. However, a rather dry spell could see Keita return to Germany in a bid to resurrect his deteriorating career.

Elsewhere, Juventus are also reportedly interested in a summer switch which would see Paulo Dybala head to the Anfield in exchange for Mohammed Salah whose return to the Premier League has seen a thousand positives in the Egyptian career.
