Liverpool to offer Memphis Depay a Lyon escape route

Liverpool to offer Memphis Depay a Lyon escape route - Memphis Depay, manchester united, Lyon, liverpool

Dutch international Memphis Depay, has decided to leave Olympique Lyon in the summer, and could end up at the Anfield.

Memphis, 25, secured a move away from Manchester United in 2017, following an under whelming season which eventually saw him quit the club for €16m. A figure twice less than his transfer fee to Old Trafford plus some change.

Since joining Lyon, Memphis has improved tremendously, and believes he has now done enough to earn himself a place at one of the top European teams.

“I want to go to a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich.” Memphis said.

The Dutchman is an attractive transfer prospect, but his past cannot be erased and that could pose a major problem in his bid to secure a move away from the Ligue 1 outfit.

According to getfootballnewsfrance, ‘Liverpool are weighing up Depay’s profile as replacement, in the event that they lose Sadio Mane to Real Madrid in the summer.’

Lyon will listen to offers for the Dutchman in the summer, but will only acknowledge proposal’s of at least €30m. Manchester United have the upper hand, and are also reportedly in the running for the winger, having inserted a buy back clause in the deal which saw Memphis Depay leave the club after a year and half with the Premier League side.
