Klopp: We are looking forward to stopping Messi

Nearly one year later, and Liverpool could be presented with another opportunity to lift a Champions League trophy, thanks to Jurgen Klopp.

However, standing in the way to the grand stage at the Wanda Metropolitano are the famous Catalan side – Barcelona – and club talisman Lionel Messi.

Jurgen Klopp has never faced ‘Barcelona in a proper game’, but the German manager is very well, looking forward to the fierce battle.

“Thank God I don’t have to think about that tonight.” joked Klopp, when quizzed on the challenge posed by Lionel Messi.

“And thank God I have a few more nights to think about it, because I think everybody tried it so far [stopping Messi] and nobody can do it.

“We still will try it. We’re looking forward to it, but we have so many jobs to do before we meet Barcelona, so let’s first play these games and then prepare for Barcelona and then we will see.

“I’ve never played Barcelona in a proper game, so my first time there, I’m looking forward to it.”

For the moment, Klopp turns his attention to the Premier League. As the Merseyside reds remain in a two-way battle for a massive duo of major trophies, having waited so long to lift a SilverWare.
