Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool would have considered signing veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic if he had not already featured for Manchester United.

The 38-year-old has refused to let his name fade in the world of football, leaving Manchester United two seasons ago, to join American club LA Galaxy where be scored 53 goals in just 58 appearances.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is in search of a new club, with his contract at LA Galaxy to end at the turn of the year.

Despite nearly 40, Zlatan Ibrahimovic isn’t ready to retire, and Jurgen Klopp has revealed Liverpool would have considered signing the Swedish legend if he had not played for rivals Manchester United.

“If he had not played for Manchester United before, then we might have considered him,” Klopp joked with Sportbladet.

“No, but I’m not even sure he wanted to play here. We’re a pretty intense team.

“With that said, I couldn’t have had more respect for Zlatan. I love his whole career, love his efforts, love his confidence.

“While it may not always be right, it is entertaining anyway. He’s a fantastic character and I really hope he doesn’t stop playing football.

“The world will miss him too much.”

While Liverpool have their concerns over signing over Zlatan Ibrahimovic, many don’t. With the likes AC Milan, Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, and a few others all interested in signing the veteran, when the transfer window opens in January.
