Juventus will reportedly listen to offers for Manchester United target Douglas Costa, with the Brazilian having failed to maintain a place in Massimiliano Allegri’s lineup.
Manchester United fans were sent wild after Douglas Costa ‘liked’ a tweet suggesting he was a transfer target for the club according to Manchester Evening earlier in the month.
However, recent reports from Calciomercato suggest Douglas could be up for sale in summer, but only if his transfer fee of €50 million is met.
Costa is down the chain of command at Juventus this season, with the Brazilian’s 24 match appearances for the Old Lady’s only summing up to 939 minutes of football. In which the 28-year-old contributed to an underwhelming figure of a single goal and three assists.
Manchester United are in dire need of the support Douglas Costa could provide, especially with the fact Jesse Lingard and a make up in Juan Mata are United’s only certified right wingers.
Costa has surely been below par for Juve so far in the season, but his ability is no way in question. Sudden bursts of speed, control and his quick feet could generally be a plus for a team hoping to rediscover top class attacking football once more under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
However, his price tag of €50 million is a let off for Man United and probably any other interested club, especially at 28-years and his current form which is no where near the feat he managed in the past, prior to sealing a €40 million move to Juve last year.
Costa is tied to Juventus until 2022. But for now, the Old Lady’s are open to offers for the 28-year-old, with the decision down to his suitors on whether to take up the offer and match the demands, or at least make an appealing proposal for the player.
