Former Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas, has hit out at Mohamed Salah, for his selfish play in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Burnley, saying he understands Sadio Mane’s dugout reaction.

Liverpool cruised to yet another victory, and in the process regained their place at the top of the Premier League table, and remain the only team with a 100 Percent record in the new season.

However, it wasn’t all joy for the Merseyside reds. Who saw their victory dented by an incident in the dying moments between forwards Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

The former was found wanting by Mane, after he passed up the chance to tee him up for a simple tap in. Mohamed Salah opted to shoot into the comfortable hands of Nick Pope instead.

Sadio Mane was visibly furious with the Egyptian, and Jermaine Jenas has sided the Senegalese. As the forward reacted furiously after being replaced by Divock Origi.

“There are parts of this that I love and parts of this that I really don’t like,” Jenas said.

“This is the part that I don’t like… your team-mates are feeding you constantly and he has to pass that ball, Salah.

“Firmino is in acres of space, it’s an easy ball and he’s trying to swing his right foot from 20 yards out. That’s not what this Liverpool team are about.

“And this is why Mane has absolutely lost it because he’s going, ‘Just slide me in, I slide you in every week! Any chance of you giving me one back?’ He doesn’t, he ignores him and this is at 3-0 up.

“This [Mane’s reaction], weirdly enough, is the part about it that I actually quite like because they’re 3-0 up, he’s been brought off and he doesn’t feel like he should have been brought off.

“This is the desire of these Liverpool players to score goals. He won the Golden Boot last year with Salah and he’s thinking he wants that Golden Boot again.

“Yeah [it’s competitive between them] and that’s amazing. That’s why they score so many goals, that’s why there’s so much competition and it just spilled over a little bit today.”

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson insists Sadio Mane was ‘laughing and joking’ in the dressing room after win. But there are serious doubts, that this is not the end of it.
