Atletico Madrid could be set to part ways with 26-year-old goalkeeper Jan Oblak who has been linked with a move to PSG, following their exit from the Champions League at the hands of a red struck Manchester United.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is unsatisfied with the latest project at the French champions, despite the acquisition of Neymar Jr from Barcelona and Kylian Mbappe from AS Monaco.
The signing of Gianluigi Buffon was expected to be a drop of confidence and experience in the squad. But after Wednesday’s defeat to Man United, Nassar has now turned his attention to an even better asset in Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak.
Marca had revealed [Jan]Oblak is currently in talks with Atletico Madrid over a new contract, and are only a salary decision away from sealing the deal. The report also states “Al Khelaifi is aware of the advanced state of talks between Oblak and Atletico, but he also knows that in the world of football everything can turn around from one day to the next as long as nothing has been signed.”
Since his €16 million move from Benfica to Atletico Madrid, Jan Oblak has gone on to establish himself in the team, drawing several comparisons to the very greats of the game.
A summer move for Oblak will most likely see PSG break the record for most expensive goal keeper currently held by Kepa Arrizabalaga who was signed by Chelsea. With the Slovenian international currently valued at €80 million as per Transfermarkt.
