Was the Colchonero director just speculating, or was the move over long before the season was?
Antoine Griezmann announced at the end of the season, that his future now lies elsewhere beyond the Wanda Metropolitano, home to Atletico Madrid. But made mention of a deal at the moment.
The Frenchman striker however recently revealed he already knew where he wanted to go, also casting doubt over remaining in the Spanish La Liga.
Atletico Madrid director Miguel Angel Gil Marin has now torn the veil in two, revealing the striker would end up in Barcelona, and that the deal was struck nearly three months ago.
“I am very certain where Antoine will play, we have known since March,” the director said to Movistar Plus’ Toros on Wednesday.
“It is in Barcelona.”
Whether it’s simply a speculation or the real deal, we’ll surely confirm over the next few days.
However, Manchester United are reportedly set to hijack Barcelona’s move for Antoine Griezmann, with reports from Metro, claiming the red devils are prepared to smash their transfer record with a £95m bid for Griezmann.
The report also states the Man Utd hierarchy are willing to satisfy his £450,000-a-week wage, as they believe it could give them the edge over Barcelona, having failed to secure Champions League football.
