Graeme Souness has hailed Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho as the best central midfielder in the Premier League following 2-1 win over Liverpool.
The midfielder was at the core of Manchester City’s impressive display against Liverpool and has always been the missing piece leading to City’s double losses back in the festive season.
Speaking to skysports after the city game, Graeme Souness hailed Manchester City whilst also pointing out Fernandinho’s great importance as he termed him ‘best central midfielder playing in our country’
“I think the best team won tonight, I think they played better football,” Souness said
“Maybe three or four of the best players on the pitch were in the City team.”
“I thought the centre-halves Stones and Vincent Kompany were outstanding. Little Bernardo Silva in midfield was fabulous.”
“And of course the central midfield player, Fernandinho.”
“He is easily the best central midfielder playing in our country right now.”
“The amount of work he gets through is overlooked by the technique he has as well.”
“When he wins it, puts a tackle in, he gets his head up and generally makes the best pass that’s on offer.”
