Juventus winger Douglas Costa has revealed he had major doubts over Cristiano Ronaldo’s move from Real Madrid to Turin last summer.
Cristiano Ronaldo has wiped clean the slate since his switch from Madrid, scoring 24 goals, including 19 in the Serie A, and providing 12 assists in his first 36 matches for the old lady’s.
The 34-year-old’s latest victim were Atletico Madrid, who he single-handedly knocked off the Champions League, to help Juventus progress to the quarter Finals, and Costa has no revealed he wasn’t always a believer.
Speaking to Channel De Sola, Douglas Costa said:
“Believe it or not but when Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival was being talked about, I asked ‘what will the dressing room be like?”
“We all have to love each other as team-mates because we’re all looking for a place in the team – but Cristiano won everyone over very quickly.
“He’s a simple, hardworking guy who likes to win. Juventus were looking for a player with his mentality, so he’s given us a lot.
“When he arrived. I thought ‘the best player in the world has joined, right?’. As soon as he arrived, the club improved in every aspect. His contribution has been noticeable.
“He scores goals every week, he’s brought more fans to the stadium and we hope to win things with him so we make history with him by our side.
“He’s a stand-up guy, he’s hard-working and he’s always with us.”
Juventus will meet Ajax in the quarter finals of the Champions League, and Costa will be hoping the Portuguese super star will once again be in great form, to help the team through to the Semi Finals and possible the grand stage at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on the 1st of June.
