Simeone irked over Griezmann question, says he's only focused on Celta Vigo - Diego Simeone, atletico Madrid, Antoine Griezmann

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is tired of questions regarding Antoine Griezmann, reiterating he is only focused on the weekend LaLiga match against Celta Vigo.

Antoine Griezmann made a switch to Barcelona in the summer, to bring a long overdue saga to a close. However following the move, reports surfaced that Barcelona had made an approach before the deal, and Atletico Madrid were apparently not happy.

Diego Simeone has since then, constantly been quizzed on the matter. This time however, the manager was in no mood to answer questions regarding the Frenchman, revealing his only concerns are weekend opponents Celta Vigo.

“I am only thinking about Celta,” He said. “I am not interested in anything that happened before February.

“With all the respect to you [journalists], I understand the questions, but sincerely after having played on Wednesday we are using our time to think about Celta.

“As they are our opponents, how they have reinforced their squad, their talent, Rafinha’s arrival, the presence of [Santi] Mina who form a strong attack.

“We are more focused on this. I understand your questions but I am looking at what concerns me.”

Atletico Madrid‘s strong start to the season, has apparently been hurt. With the Spanish side having conceded at least two goals in the last three games.

The Rojiblancos won one, drew one and lost one of these past three fixtures, and Diego Simeone has every intention of fixing this recent loop hole.

“It is always a concern and we are all worried about it.

“We aim to concede the fewest goals possible.

“There are new arrivals, players who need to adapt to our style and also different qualities.”

Quizzed on whether he would be making any changes to the squad, Simeone quickly clarified, that there were no permanent spots in his starting XI.

He said: “There are no untouchables, there are important players which I always tell them; we train to be prepared to compete.

“I am looking for something that gives me balance, but playing with so many players of the same characteristics does not give balance.

“Whether you win or you lose, there is always criticism of why this or the other player didn’t play. We are looking for ten players to run, not seven.”
