If the recent statement from Didier Deschamps is anything to go by, then it seems Lyon left back Ferland Mendy is on his way to the Santiago Bernabau.
Zinedine Zidane is leaving no stone unturned in his plot to reform the Los Blancos, with Eden Hazard, Eder Militao, Rodrygo and Luka Jovic already expected at the Santiago Bernabau in the new season.
However, Zizou is far from done, and French manager Didier Deschamps has revealed that Lyon left back Mendy could be next in line to join the Madrid whites.
“Two years ago he was playing in the second division, now he is on the verge of joining Real Madrid,” Deschamps said.
“He has come on leaps and bounds, and he can play on both sides.”
Ferland Mendy, 24, joined Lyon in 2017 for €5 million, and has gone on to make 79 appearances, scoring three goals and providing seven assists. The left back is however contracted to the club until 2023 and is reportedly valued at €30 million as per Transfermarkt.
