Cristiano Ronaldo admits he has never been to dinner with his Barcelona rival Lionel Messi. But would have no problem doing that in the future.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi shared one of the most intriguing career runs in the history of football. Both men pushing each other to the very limit of their game.
Both have been the center of attraction and the top dogs in the game for over a decade. And the Portuguese forward agrees his Argentine counterpart has made him a better player and vice versa.
Ronaldo who recently spoke on his retirement, revealing it could happen when he is 40 or 41, or even next year. Also pitched in on his healthy rivalry with Lionel Messi. Which he believes has helped both players reach record-breaking heights in their career.
“I really admire the career he has had so far and, for his part, he has already said that he had trouble when I left the Spanish league because it is a rivalry that he appreciates,” the Juve forward told Portuguese channel TVI.
“It is a good rivalry that exists in football, but this is no exception. Michael Jordan had rivals in basketball, Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost were great rivals in Formula 1, the only common point between all the big rivalries in the sport is that they are healthy.
“Messi makes me a better player and vice versa”
He added: “I have an excellent professional relationship with Messi because we have been sharing the same moments for 15 years,” he said.
“I have never been to dinner with him but why not in the future? I would have no problem with doing that.”
Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But it would surely be nice to see two of the greatest players in history ( Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi ) out on a boy’s time together.
