Champions League last-16 draw: Real v City, Atleti vs L’pool, Chelsea v Bayern

The result for the Champions League last 16 draw is out, and we would very well be expecting some pretty interesting fixtures when the knock out stages begin in 2020.

Current champions Liverpool have learned their faith, as the Wanda Metropolitan will happily host the Merseyside reds and Jurgen Klopp for the first fixture of the two-legged tie.

Last season’s fallen finalists will be hoping for better luck this time, with Jose Mourinho to return to the Champions League with a home game against RB Leipzig.

Other Premier League sides Manchester City and Chelsea will, however, face tough fixtures against Real Madrid and Bayern Munich respectively.

With Pep Guardiola to return to Spain with the citizens when they visit the Santiago Bernabeu in the first tie, while Frank Lampard welcome a Champions League hot Bayern Munich side at the Stamford bridge.

Thomas Tuchel and PSG will once again be put to test when they visit the intimidating Signal Iduna Park for the clash with Bundesliga’s very own Borussia Dortmund.

Boasting of the world’s greatest talismans, Barcelona and Juventus were fairly let off easy. With the Lionel Messi to visit the Serie A for a match up with Napoli, while Cristiano Ronaldo and Juve make the journey for Lyon.

Meanwhile, Serie A’s surprise Champions League side Atalanta head in for their first knock out stage fixture, with Valencia the only obstacle in their way to the next round.

Champions League round of 16 draw

The Champions League first-leg encounters will take place on February 18/19 and 25/26. With the return fixtures due to be held on March 10/11 and 17/18.
