Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed the club are waiting on an answer from Leroy Sane over a potential move from Premier League champions Manchester City this summer.
The German Giants are in the market this summer, looking to find suitable replacements for Frank Ribery as well as his compatriot Arjen Robben – who recently announced his retirement.
The club are believed to have made Manchester City’s Leroy Sane and Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi top targets as they only look to make long-term recruits.
Contrast to reports, Rummenigge revealed Bayern Munich had not made an offer for the winger in the previous month, but revealed they are very much interested in the player, and are waiting on a decision when the 23-year-old returns from his holidays.
“I’d like to think he’ll return from his holidays this week. That’s where he wanted to consider his future,” Rummenigge said at the presentation of Lucas Hernandez. “We’ll have to wait and see if there’s any movement.”
He added: “We are waiting, all the clubs are waiting for the first big transfer. Because that will then trigger more big transfers. We are well positioned and patient.”
Leroy Sane is tied to Manchester City until 2021, following his arrival to the Etihad on a five-year deal for €50.5m from FC Schalke 04. The 23-year-old is believed to be unsettled at City and had made known his decision to seek greener pastures – with City’s blessings of course – after failing to beat Raheem Sterling and Bernando Silva to a first team place in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
