Despite only just joining Juventus in the summer, Barcelona will reportedly attempt to price out Mattijhs De Ligt, when the January window opens.
Following Frenkie De Jong’s recruitment to the Catalan ranks, Mattijhs De Ligt was a regular name linked to joining Barcelona in the summer. However, a deal failed to materialize, and De Ligt ended up joining Juventus in a deal worth a massive €85.5m in excess.
The 20-year-old has made a slow start to his Turin career, but after being included in Sarri’s starting XI for two games in a row now. The center back finally seems to be finding his feet at the Allianz Stadium.
According to Calciomercato however, Barcelona regret the decision to let Mattijhs De Ligt join Juventus in the summer, and are reportedly making plans to have the defender at the Camp Nou by winter.
The report also states that Barcelona have already established contact with De Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola for a surprise deal in the January transfer window.
It remains to be seen if the Catalans will make a move in January. However, a deal for Mattijhs De Ligt seems practically impossible. Unless of course, Barcelona are willing to shell massive resources in the hope to convince Juventus to let the former Ajax center-back go.
