Barcelona have confirmed in a statement, that Uruguayan international Luis Suarez will not feature in the upcoming international break, due to medical reasons.
Luis Suarez has been goal-hungry since his return to the Barcelona squad. The forward bagging five goals already in seven games across all competitions, including a brace against Inter Milan in the Champions League.
However, according to a statement released on the club’s official website. Luis Suarez will not feature for Uruguay in the upcoming international break, as the forward is expected to receive medical treatments.
It read: “Suárez will stay in Barcelona during the break doing medical treatment.
“The Uruguayan striker will make medical treatment by mutual agreement between the medical services of the Club and those of the Uruguay team as part of his personalized work plan.”
According to AS, the reason behind the decision is to enable him [Suarez] to specifically focus on his knee and avoid the risk of aggravating the problem.
Luis Suarez will be expected back in action, and in full health, when Barcelona face Eibar on October 19. After which the Catalans prepare for their first El Clasico at the Camp Nou on October 26th.
