Spanish Champions Barcelona have announced the signing of Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid, for 120 million euros.
This was confirmed in a statement released by the club on Friday. It read: “FC Barcelona has paid the 120 million euro buyout clause to release Antoine Griezmann from Atlético Madrid.
“The player will sign a contract with his new club for the next five seasons, through to 30 June 2024, with a buyout clause of 800 million euros.
“We will shortly be publishing the full schedule for the presentation of Antoine Griezmann as a new member of the Barça first team.”
The announcement, marks the end to speculations linking the Frenchman to moves elsewhere, after he had revealed he was leaving the Wanda Metropolitano stadium at the end of last season. – A statement which was rebuffed by the club in what they believed was rightly disrespectful.
Atletico Madrid had ordered Antoine Griezmann back to club training, just days before Barcelona paid off the forward’s release clause.
Antoine Griezmann’s move to Barcelona, marks the end to his five-year spell with Atleti. Having joined the club for £27 million from Real Sociedad back in 2014.
Griezmann scored a total of 133 goals and provided 50 assists in his time at Atletico Madrid, winning the UEFA Super cup, Europa League and Spanish Super cup in the process.
