Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United attacking midfielder Juan Mata as a free agent.
Mata, 30, is out of contract at the end of the season, and is now free to discuss potential moves to any club outside of England. And it seems the Camp Nou would very well welcome his return.
Juan wants a two-year deal but has only been offered 12 months by Manchester United, and according to TheSun, Barça have opened negotiations by contacting the midfielder’s father and agent, Juan Sr.
Mata has made 29 appearances for Man Utd this season, scoring five goals and providing three assists. The attacking midfielder is unlikely to become a starter at the Camp Nou, but Valverade will be hoping, he could be in the starting rotation even if he did not play every big game.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to make the tough choice of either letting go of the creative sense in Juan Mata and hop into the transfer market in search of a replacement or offer the 30-year-old a new contract. However, at the moment, Solskjaer is engrossed to convincing fellow Spaniard David De Gea to extend his contract with the club, as the likes of PSG and Real Madrid come full circle for the shot stopper.
