Ivan Rakitic’s future at Barcelona remains in doubt. After the midfielder was left out of the starting XI for their recent win over Real Betis.
The Croatian has been a topic of discussion, since the arrival of Frenkie De Jong from Ajax. With Ivan Rakitic linked with moves elsewhere as opposed to a reduced game time at the club.
Since the speculations began, Rakitic has attracted interests from several clubs. Most coming from the Italian Serie A, as well as Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain.
Ivan Rakitic is, and remains one of the most consistent and highly regarded midfielders in the world. However, Barcelona are in the business of building for the future, and would most likely favour a place in the squad for long-term Frenkie over Rakitic.
A move to China isn’t entirely off the table, but the Croatian insists his place is at Camp Nou, and is reluctant that new signing Frenkie De Jong is his replacement.
Apparently, in Ivan Rakitic’s diary, both players do not feature in the same position. However, Barcelona have made it clear, Frenkie De Jong is the future. And Rakitic will either have to be accept his place on the bench, or leave the club in search of greener pastures.
