Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane may be backed in the corner, when the international break is over. With Gareth Bale and Luka Modric now injury concerns for the next few games.
Both players left the field of play, with some injury issues. Luka Modric accompanied by two of Croatia’s medical team, unable to support his right leg. While Bale also has some concerns of his own.
Zidane and Real Madrid face three away games in a row when they return from the international break. And the last thing the Frenchman would be happy to entertain would be injuries to two of his key players.
Zidane’s first fixture will see him travel to RCD Mallorca on the 19th. Before an all-important Champions League game against Galatasaray. With Real Madrid in dire need to win, after losing and drawing their first two group A games.
Like that’s not enough, Real Madrid would then have to take on rivals Barcelona next, in a game probably tied with huge title implications.
“According to the doctors, Modric has had a painful knock to the quads,” a member of the Croatian medical staff Nikola Jerkan told Radio MARCA.
“It’s logical that people are worried about the Clasico, but it doesn’t seem very bad.”
Wales manager Ryan Giggs, also suggested the case with Gareth Bale isn’t serious, and he won’t be expected out injured.
“Gareth Bale got a bit of cramp. He didn’t want to come off,” Giggs said post-match.
“It was a fantastic performance [by him]. It was a shame he got that for the last 10 minutes, so we were down one player really.”
Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane will have to wait until Bale and Modric return to the club, to find out just how severe their knocks are. With the manager hoping the case isn’t at all serious with both players, as they prepare for another tough week.
