Atletico Madrid are looking to land themselves a new right-back this summer, and have stepped up the chase for Tottenham Hotspur’s Kieran Trippier.
According to TheSun, Atleti’s list of targets have been reduced to the acquisition of either Kieran Trippier or Thomas Meunier from Paris Saint Germain, to fill the slot for next season.
Italian Giants Juventus, are also interested in signing the 28-year-old as a replacement for Joao Cancelo – who could leave the Allianz Stadium for Manchester City this summer – and are very much aware of the competition from Atletico Madrid.
Mauricio Pochettino won’t stand in the way of a possible move for the 28-year-old, who joined in on his project four years ago, as the manager looks to shake up the squad a bit this summer.
Trippier is seen as a £25million long-term replacement for Juanfran at Atletico, with he and PSG’s Meunier fitting their profile to fill the right-back position on their shortlist.
Should Atletico Madrid complete a deal for Kieran Trippier, then the 28-year-old will join in on the long list of recruitments done by the Spanish side this summer, including the likes of Joao Felix, Marcos Llorente, Hector Herrera, Renan Lodi and Felipe, who joined Diego Simeone’s next big project at the Wanda Metropolitano for next season.
