Antoine Griezmann could finally end up in the famous Catalan outfit for next season, as the forward could reportedly call time on his stay at the Wanda Metropolitano after a meeting with the club later today.
According to reports from Cadena SER via Calciomercato, ‘the Frenchman will meet Simeone, Berta and Gil Marin today to talk about his future and the rumours about the imminent departure to Barcelona.’
The report further states Barcelona are willing to pay up Griezmann’s €125 million release clause this summer, with a five-year lucrative offer on the cards for the Frenchman.
Griezmann was once a top target for Premier League side Manchester United who were only a few talks away from securing the forward, before he was forced to retract his decision due to a transfer ban.
Antoine has also rejected Barcelona in the past, pledging loyalty to the Rojiblancos. However, after winning a Europa League trophy, a UEFA super cup and a Spanish Cup with Atletico, the former Real Sociedad player may finally decide to take a step further in his club career and taste success elsewhere.
Should Griezmann decide to stay beyond the season at Atletico Madrid, Barcelona would officially end interest in him presently and in the forseeable future.
