Former Arsenal and Celtic striker Anthony Stokes has been convicted for stalking his ex girlfriend Eilidh Scott, and has been ordered to stay away from her.
Anthony Stokes, 31, was convicted on the basis of harassment and engaging in a course of conduct that caused fear and alarm to his former partner and her mother. With the striker said to have sent Eilidh countless messages daily, a reported 100 texts a day.
Stokes has been given an eight month deferred sentence, and has been instructed not to make contact with his ex partner for the next four years, unless he’s arranging time to see his two-year old son.
According to The Sun, ‘The ex-Republic of Ireland forward, who currently plays for Turkish side Adana Demirspor, labelled her [Eilidh Scott] a ‘s**g’ and a ‘w***e’ and turned up at her home in Shotts, Lanarkshire, late at night.’
Anthony Stokes apparently admitted to his ill behavior, and has reportedly apologized to the mother of his child.
Both are keen to put the issue behind them, with the defendant citing that working abroad may have contributed to him being isolated and the complainer being alone with a young child which put the relationship under strain.
