About The Author: Mechanics Of Materials by R.C. Hibbeler
Mechanics Of Materials is the Brainchild of R.C.Hibbeler. R.C. Hibbeler graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana with a Bachelor’s in Science in Civil Engineering (majoring in Structures) and a Masters in Science in Nuclear Engineering. He obtained his Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from Northwestern University.
Professor Hibbeler’s professional experience includes postdoctoral work in reactor safety and analysis at Argonne National Laboratory, and structural and stress analysis work at Chicago Bridge and Iron, as well as at Sargent and Lundy in Chicago. He has practiced engineering in Ohio, New York, and Louisiana.
Professor Hibbeler currently teaches both civil and mechanical engineering courses at the University of Louisiana– Lafayette. Previously, he has conducted lectures at the University of Illinois at Urbana, Youngstown State University, Illinois Institute of Technology, and Union College.
About Mechanics Of Materials 10th Edition
The book is instrumental in vividly dissecting the theory and presenting with sufficient examples and explanations of the principles behind the essential functioning of materials. Professor Hibbeler’s distinctly precise handiwork, a plethora of examples, and the multicolored photorealistic art program enable readers to thoroughly in grasping concepts with ease. Mechanics Of Materials is also credited with being worked with constant advice and suggestions from students and teachers alike.
Mechanics Of Materials also serves to say that the tenth edition remarkable retains the quintessential features associated with Hibbeler’s works. Features such as triple-accuracy checking and sections explaining the procedures employed to analyze find compulsory spaces in this edition as well. However, the new edition has managed to include the most current information, a brand new layout, and an extra section of problem resolution with enhanced flexibility with regard to the techniques in which each topic is dealt with. It is an extremely handy book for students of Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering who wish to delve further into the mechanics of materials.

Reception And Review
Hibbeler has been assisting students in mechanics through his writings for quite some time now. He uses lucid and simple worded explanations to delineate topics. His complementary figures drawn to elaborate also help curious minds adequately. Even going through the drawings serves majorly in mastering a given matter.
Mechanics Of Materials is required now more than ever due to the changed academic communication system courtesy of the coronavirus pandemic situation. Although it is relatively new, it gives off the impression of being rife with detailed and systematically analyzed and delivered information.
Hibbeler’s articulate writing has been proven earlier as well through the likes of his statistics and dynamics textbooks among others. The information is unanimously easy to digest, the examples are relevant and simple to follow. The only requirement from a student of this book would be for her/him to focus and revise a great deal since practice can only help in making through tough concepts that require a solid understanding to crack.
If you’re taking mechanics of materials or, solid mechanics, this is an amazing book to learn from. This book comes highly recommended for all engineering students given its plethora of examples and problems to practice on. It also provides step-by-step examples to learn the subject matter from. Just solving the examples also helps a lot in getting an edge over understanding the theory.
However, as it is for most academic books – this book comes at a range that slightly falls at the costlier side, coming at 17,000 INR (Hardcover). It can though, be rented. Nevertheless, good things come at a cost and it would not be wrong to say that such a terrific textbook does earn its price.
