About Russian Doll Season 2

Russian Doll is an American comedy-drama television series created by Natasha Lyonne, Leslye Headland, and Amy Poehler. The series debuted on Netflix in February 2019. The series follows Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) a game developer at an unavoidable party in New York City one night.

She died repeatedly, beginning exactly at the same moment in the party; a time loop replaying the events and possibilities to her death as she tries to find out what exactly is happening to her. Soon enough, she finds a man who experiences the same thing, with a different event.

Russian Doll is a critically acclaimed Primetime Emmy winning show. The series has an approval rating of 97% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. The series has been praised for its fresh perspective, its ability to maintain novelty whilst being stuck in a time loop and the terrific performance of the ravishing Orange Is the New Black star, Natasha Lyonne. Judy Berman of the Time’s has called the show, 2019’s best show to date.

Russian Doll Season 2 Release Date:

So, yes obviously the show with such a high rating and splendid will return for another season as confirmed by Netflix in June 2019. But things have taken a little bit of a backseat with the Covid-19 pandemic but fortunately, filming has reportedly started on May 2020, and so, it’s safe to assume a 2021 release date for the next season of Russian Doll.

Russian Doll Season 2 Cast and Plot

Cast-wise, Natasha Lyonne is the heart and soul, so Lyonne is confirmed to reprise her role as Nadia for the next season. But what is unclear is whether Charlie Barnett will return for the second season. Alan(Barnett)  played an important role in the first season, as a loop buddy but we do not know for sure whether he will return for the second season or have an equally important role. Nadia’s friends Maxine (Greta Lee) and Lizzy (Rebecca Henderson) are also expected to reprise their roles for the next season.

Plot-wise, as the show is the mind baby of Lyonne and Poehler’s discussions on roles for female, Russian Doll explores the possibilities of the female psyche with Lyonne’s charming personality. It pushes and transgresses boundaries unlike ever before, and that is truly what is so exhilarating about the show. So, who knows what we can expect, from this terrifically well put a show.

Excitement is sky-high for the next season of Russian Doll.
