About Hocus Pocus 2
Hocus Pocus is a Disney film that first aired in 1993. Initially, it was a critical and commercial disappointment. Kenny Ortega remained tightlipped about the sequel along with the other creators because of its underperformance at the box office.
Nevertheless, the show gained a major fan base after being annually aired on Disney for Halloween. Now, viewers are demanding a sequel for their favorite Halloween movie. Will Disney renew the film? If so, when and where will it be released? Here is everything you need to know about Hocus Pocus 2!
Hocus Pocus 2 Release Date
Even though the movie was a total flop at first, it started growing over the years which led the latter to make progress for the story. At first, creators announced that the sequel will be a remake or reboot of the original franchise; however, viewers revealed their disappointment about the new direction it took. Later, in 2019, the creators announced that Hocus Pocus 2 will release exclusively on Disney+ as a sequel which pleased several fans.
Unfortunately, the possibility of the film releasing in 2020 is very low considering the fact that they just found a director. In addition, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is halting production of any kind, so we might be seeing the sequel on our screens somewhere in 2021 debut if things went smoothly.
Hocus Pocus 2 Cast
Certainly, the cast list is not likely to be announced just yet since the production did not even start on the film yet. As of today, there is no official statement of who will be returning and whether or not the sequel will have new faces to join. The former writer of Hocus Pocus hinted that the original trio will appear in the sequel. This means we will see:
- Bette Midler as Winifred Sanderson,
- Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah Sanderson,
- Kathy Najimy as Mary Sanderson.
Hocus Pocus 2 Plot
Officially, the creators confirmed that the sequel will continue with the film’s story. However, there has been no statement from the creators about what the storyline will cover. We anticipate that the sequel will feature the Sanderson sisters after they came back into the real world as the original film concluded.
To go back in time, the Sanderson sisters are witches who were burned in the 17th century Salem. Years later, Max, Dani, and Allison move to this Salem and accidentally revive the Sandersons by lighting the Black Flame Candle.
Fast forward to today, the original creative team is not returning for the sequel. The writer Jen D’Angelo and director Adam Shankman replaced the former team of the film. This means there are new perspectives on the storyline and a new thrilling adventure for Disney’s film lovers.
